about

The second single from my upcoming album, Space and Time, this song was written, recorded, mixed and mastered by myself in Glasgow. It's a song about yearning for simpler times, when things were easier. It's about nostalgia and about thinking about the things that have happened to you and whether if you could, would you go back and change things?

It's an upbeat, energetic song driven by melodic synth parts and very groovy drum sound but it's almost melancholic and quite reflective in its themes. I think it gives the song a really unique feel and it's a track that definitely gets stuck in your head.

lyrics

I remember you.
Of course I do.
How long has it been?
You still want to be an astronaut or the lizard queen?
Time moved on and I'm sorry I lost track
And missed growing up with you.
You know the world is still our oyster
But I see no pearl.

When you remember who you were back then
Everything you are now just stops making sense.
And with this life you built here for yourself
The one thing missing is that sense of innocence.
Look, I don't know if there's an easy fix
So let's just go back to 2006.

Fridays after school, we'd all go sit on the beach wall
And redefine the meaning of doing fuck all.
The weekends only seem to end these days
And the weekdays go so slow.
I've always got somewhere to be
But nowhere to go.

When you remember who you were back then
Everything you are now just stops making sense.
And with this life you built here for yourself
The one thing missing is that sense of innocence.
Look, I don't know if there's an easy fix
So let's just go back to 2006.

You be steel and I'll be flint
Burn it all and we'll do things so different
And I won't feel so bad about myself
And you won't have those problems with your health.
Everything that worked to ruin us
Will be the one scorch mark on all these lives we've lived.
I need to make it not my fault.
I want to be who I was back in 2006.
It makes so much sense to me now.
When you remember who you were back then
Remember who I was back in 2006.
It makes so much sense to me now.
When I remember who I was back then.
